Ballots have been mailed for the Local 764 Elections – if you have not received a ballot by now, or are at an address other than the one Local 764 has on file for you, contact the balloting company for a replacement ballot by calling 209.259.6740!

Ballots must be received to the Post Office Box by July 20th, 2020.
UPCOMING MEMBER MEETINGS
The next GENERAL MEMBERSHIP MEETING is on
Monday, July 20th at 6 pm EDT. The next General Membership Meeting will take place on Monday, July 20th at 6 pm Eastern Daylight Time. Due to the current COVID-19 Crisis, this membership will be a virtual, online meeting. Results of the Local 764 election will be announced.

Local 764 BENEFIT TOWN HALL: TO BE SCHEDULED

The previously announced BENEFIT TOWN HALL will be scheduled for the week of July 27th – July 31st depending on the schedule of the presenters (from the IATSE National Benfit Fund, the Local 764 Pension & Annuity Fund and the Local 764 401(k) Fund). TRAINING AND EDUCATION
IATSE TRAINING TRUST FUND: SAFETY FIRST ONLINE TRAINING
Local 764 members may apply for access to the online training provided by the IATSE Training Trust, including the recently launched: COVID-19: RECOMMENDED GUIDELINES FOR PREVENTING EXPOSURE IN THE WORKPLACE.

OSHA 10 Online and In Person Classes
Local 764 is planning additional course for members to get their OSHA 10 card, through both online training and in-person training, once in-person classes are available. Please let us know your interest. As soon as these classes have been confirmed, they will be announced to the membership. Let us know your interest now, because if there is a high demand we will schedule more classes! You can email your interest HERE.

Local 764 Social Justice Task Force
After the first online gathering moderated by Margery Freeman from the People’s Institute for Survival and Beyond, many members who attended reached out with their comments and reflections.
As an immediate first step, based on Margery Freeman’s recommendation, please see below a link of suggested readings from the Schomburg Center for Research in Black Culture from the New York Public Library. More resources will be posted on the Local 764 website.

We are currently awaiting a proposal from the People’s Institute for facilitated training for our membership, and we have also contacted other facilitators based on feed back and comments.

POLITICAL ACTIVISM AND ENGAGEMENT

Please encourage others to fill out the census – either in paper or online – by October 31st, 2020 (extended deadline).
Local 764 along with the IATSE has asked members to sign up to advocate for the “HEROES” Act – which would extend the “CARES” act’s unemployment insurance provisions for as long as the health crisis persists, among other important provisions!
