IATSE Hollywood Basic Agreement and Area Standards Agreement: Update

UPDATE as of 12 pm 10/15/2021:

ON WEDNESDAY OCTOBER 13th, IATSE International President Loeb announced that he would call a strike on work under the Hollywood Basic Agreement and the Area Standards Agreement at 12:01 am Pacific Daylight Time (3:01 am Eastern Daylight Time) on Monday, October 18th if an agreement could not be reached with the AMPTP.

OVER THE WEEKEND (Saturday 10/15 and Sunday 10/16):

  • Members working over the weekend should report and work as normal.
  • If you are asked to stop working, or see a picket line set up, contact Local 764 immediately. 

IF YOU ARE WORKING OUT OF TOWN:

  • If you are currently working out of jurisdiction, please make sure Local 764 knows what job you are working on, where you are and your most up-to-date contact information.

Local 764 is reaching out to individual supervisors on shows. The IATSE International will inform Local 764 of any steps or actions that Local 764 and its members need to take, and we will be in touch with the individual shows through their supervisors.

  • Local 764 will notify affected members as soon as we receive information.  If you report to work and see a picket line, contact the Local 764 office immediately.

Local 764 Trainings: Implicit Bias and Micro-Aggressions

This class has been requested by members and has been created specifically for Local 764 by the Federal Mediation and Conciliation Service.

Space is limited, anyone planning to attend should sign up as soon as possible.
 
The workshop will cover the following:

  1. Definition of Implicit and explicit bias
  2. Definition of microaggressions
  3. Impact of implicit biases and microaggressions
  4. Practical tools and tips to address the impact of bias and micro aggressions in the workplace and in everyday life.

The emphasis of the workshop is on practicing the tools and thus it is designed to be highly interactive and participatory.

THE SESSION IS TWO HOURS LONG.

JOB POSTING: Second Stage

JOB POSTINGS FROM SECOND STAGE:

DRESSER (Part-Time)
DAYWORKER (FDNY C-15 Certified) 

 
DRESSER:
Second Stage Theater is seeking a part-time dresser to begin work in late October for Clyde’s by Lynn Nottage. Dresser reports to wardrobe supervisor, and is responsible for running a wardrobe track, assisting performers with changes, and other duties assigned during work calls.

 
Responsibilities

  • Create and update show paperwork detailing track and other duties
  • Labeling in-use costume pieces
  • Maintenance and prep of costumes
  • Review condition of costumes and document repair notes
  • Organization of costumes in dressing rooms and backstage
  • Perform preshow checks and presets before half hour
  • Collection of laundry and restore costumes at end of day
  • Gather costumes for dry cleaning as scheduled by supervisor
  • Participate in work calls and understudy rehearsals as needed
  • Weekly PCR testing at approved locations
  • Follow zone restrictions and safety protocols as outlined by COVID safety manager and general management

 
Qualifications

  • Membership or registration with IATSE TWU Local 764
  • Proof of Covid-19 vaccination
  • Knowledge of costume construction, including quick change rigging techniques
  • Basic laundry and sewing know-how
  • Familiarity with backstage environment, terminology, and etiquette
  • Ability to sit, kneel, squat, stand, reach, and bend repeatedly
  • Ability to climb stairs repeatedly while carrying up to 20 lbs
  • Must be able to efficiently problem solve under pressure
  • Ability to work with other members of the wardrobe team and other departments

DAYWORKER:
Second Stage Theater is seeking a C-15 certified day worker for laundry call and flame retardant treatment of costumes on dark days. Day worker reports to wardrobe supervisor and treats designated costumes with flame retardant treatment decided on by production management and special effects consultant. Proof of FDNY certification must be provided by Oct 27.

Responsibilities

  • Launder designated costume items to prepare for flame retardant treatment
  • Check in any dry cleaning items that will require flame retardant treatment
  • Treat designated costumes with flame retardant treatment
  • Hang designated costumes in specified location
  • Report any application issues or supply needs to wardrobe supervisor in a timely manner
  • PCR testing at designated testing locations
  •  Follow zone restrictions and safety protocols as outlined by COVID safety manager and general management

Qualifications

  • Membership or registration with IATSE TWU Local 764
  • Proof of Covid-19 vaccination
  • Proof of FDNY Certification of Fitness for Flame Retardant Treatment (C-15)
  • Experience with laundry, particularly food stain removal

These position are covered under Local 764’s Collective Bargaining Agreement with Second Stage Theater.

FREE WORKSHOP SERIES FROM THE ACTORS FUND

Managing Debt and Credit, Parts 1 & 2

Please note: You must be able to attend both sessions.

In this two-part workshop, we will cover the basics of consumer debt, including debt-relief options, understanding and improving your credit, and strategies for paying off debt with variable income. Other types of debt (student loans, mortgages, etc.) will also be addressed. Debt is a fact of life for many entertainment industry professionals. This workshop will help you navigate common pitfalls and begin to engage in best practices so you can manage your debt successfully and with confidence.
Please note that participants are required to attend both dates. There are no pre-requisites, however you must register in advance to attend.
