Normally when I write you at the holidays, we can look back on many good moments and accomplishments. This year is different. We have all been challenged by change. Most of you reading this are still without work and while promise of more aid from Washington and a vaccine on the way cheers us, it does not solve today’s problems. Many MPTV workers have jobs but are earning their livings and making their shows under extremely difficult conditions, with strict protocols and changes that create additional burdens. Nearly all of us mourn friends, 764 kin, and family members who have died, and none of us have seen all our friends and family in a good long time. There are days when everything seems dangerous.
But in this darkness, I hope you can feel that the union has your back, and that together in union, we are stronger than we would be apart.
So, in this year of change—bad changes and silver linings, hardship and courage, sickness and kindness, divisions and hope—I wish you some moments of peace this coming week. Local 764 will be here for you in the New Year.
On we go…
